Midlands Hydrogen Ring, July 07

The British Midlands Hydrogen Forum (BMHF), chaired by Rupert Gammon of Bryte Energy, held a meeting in July to explore the possibility of setting up a “Midlands Hydrogen Ring”. This is the name given to the concept of establishing a network of hydrogen vehicle refuelling stations across the region. Although the Midlands has an impressive automotive heritage and a strong knowledge-base in hydrogen, fuel cell and low-carbon technologies, manufacturers have been unwilling to contemplate the field trials of hydrogen and fuel cell vehicles in the UK because the lack of refuelling infrastructure. All this is set to change with the introduction of refuelling stations proposed in the Midlands Hydrogen Ring project.

Many attendees of the meeting expressed an interest in participating in such a scheme. Some were already committed to installing equipment in the immediate future, while others anticipated joining the scheme as it unfolds throughout the region in the coming years.

Report submitted to E.ON UK, July 07

Bryte Energy submitted a report to E.ON UK in July entitled “Aspects of the Wide Scale Deployment of Hydrogen by Pipeline in the UK”. This is the fourth in a series of reports produced by Bryte Energy for the international utility company, which have also covered areas such as the viability of energy storage with renewable energy supplies, the role of hydrogen in future energy markets and, more specifically, the role of electrolysis in energy networks.
