Dr Rupert Gammon, Director
Rupert conceived, designed and acted as project manager for the implementation of the HARI project. This formed the major part of his PhD research at CREST, which he completed in 2006. Through this research he developed a model of the system, which was verified against its real-world operation. The same model can be applied in the design of future sustainable energy systems. He currently oversees the management and day-to-day operation of the West Beacon Farm energy system.
Rupert gained an MSc in Renewable Energy Systems Technology at CREST in 2001. He previously worked as a freelance consultant, partly in the field of sustainable energy, but more predominantly in the oil, gas and mineral exploration industries for 5 years. Before that he had worked as an industrial designer within an architectural practice called Hutton and Rostron Ltd, developing an environmental monitoring system for use mainly in historic buildings. Rupert gained a BA (Hons.) in 3D Industrial Design (Eng) from Leeds Metropolitan University, UK in 1988.
Rupert is a director of the UK Hydrogen Association and serves on the Infrastructure and Renewables Task Group of the London Hydrogen Partnership. He is also a Visiting Researcher at CREST, Loughborough University.
